Belgium
As many as 30 people confirmed dead and several injured in the explosions at Brussels Airport and a metro station early Tuesday morning, public broadcaster RTBF said, citing sources at the nearest hospital and fire service.
At least 10 died at the airport and 20 at the Maelbeek metro station in Brussels, close to the EU institutions.
The cause of the explosions was not immediately clear but Belgium’s federal prosecutor said the explosions at the airport were carried out by a suicide bomber.
Belgium’s news agency reported that shots were fired and Arabic was shouted before the two explosions.
225 extra troops have been deployed to Brussels to maintain security.
Meanwhile, all flights and metro services at the airport and the metro station respectively have been suspended.
